Additional Resources. Urban Wildfire Response and Recovery Webinar Series
UC Center for Climate, Health and Equity sponsored a six-part webinar series for the UC community and the public titled “Urban Wildfire Response and Recovery Webinar Series,” focusing on the physical health, mental health and social impacts of wildfires, providing a blend of scientific information and practical skills, and highlighting environmental justice issues.
Crisis Response for Kids: Keeping Children Safe During and After Wildfires. Overview: Children eat, drink, and breathe three times as much of their environment as do adults, and their normal behaviors present additional exposure risks. We highlight the special attention needed to protect youth during and after wildfires.
Wildfire Response Psychological First Aid Training. Overview: A psycho-educational training facilitated by disaster mental health experts. This session provides the basic skills to effectively help those impacted by wildfires with acute stress responses.
Urban Wildfires: State of the Evidence of the LA Wildfires and How to protect Health and Well-Being. Overview: This informative and empowering webinar discusses actionable steps you can take to protect your health and well-being in the event of an urban wildfire.
Community Impacts and Community Recovery. Overview: This webinar covers the social impacts of wildfires as well as community response and recovery. Topics include financial distress, housing insecurity, food insecurity, disproportionate impacts on vulnerable populations and insurance impacts.
Wildfire Effects on Brain and Cognition. Overview: This webinar will cover the impacts of climate disasters such as wildfires on the brain and vital cognitive functions and will discuss important climate resiliency efforts that protect brain health.
Policy and Wildfires. Overview: This webinar will examine the role of politics and policy in mitigating climate distress, with a specific focus on California wildfire policies, air quality, and overall health response.
